WP: War bill includes tempting projects – washingtonpost.com Highlights – MSNBC.com
Looks like the Dems know how to play ball, Washington D.C. style, by appeasing the GOP with pork.
I guess a compelling policy and plan for ending the war sooner than later is just not enough for most folks. This type of bill only cheapens the democratic process.
“I’ll trade you more federal aid to Katrina surviviors for your vote to end the war.” As much as I am against the war, this bill make me uncomfortable and I’m not even a legislator.
This bill can only end in a veto if it passes. I guess we can expect several days of spin on the talk shows this week leading up to the vote.
Apparently, when Mr. Gonzales left the White House and moved to the Justice Department, he was not informed that he has a new boss and job description.
Let me be clear, Alberto Gonzales works at the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, the defenders of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, yet he continue to be the glorified water boy to the White House (thanks Cafferty).
The worse part of this latest scandal is the reappearance of Karl Rove. He continues to wield his power by politicizing policy issues and intimidating civil servants. Can he be stopped? Misuse of the Patriot Act, the US Attorney scandal, the Valarie Plame scandal, Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal.
Alberto Gonzalez, is a disgrace to the office he holds. He had every opportunity to free himself and go out on his own and do the right things. Instead, he sold his soul long ago to indulge in corrupt power. His lack of respect for his office is evident as he performs like a lap dog for this incompetent administration. Calling for his job has nothing to do with race and all to do with recovering our rights and civil liberties.
